Tech Leap: The Federal Ministry of Communications opens the floor for massive AI research funding.

LAGOS/ABUJA — The Nigerian Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy has today officially kicked off its "Virtual Open Days" for the ₦12 billion National Digital Economy Research Clusters Initiative.

This massive fund is aimed at positioning Nigerian universities and tech hubs at the center of global AI development. From 1 PM today, researchers and startups will gain clarity on how to access the billions earmarked for solving local problems—ranging from agricultural yield optimization to cybersecurity—using 5G and Artificial Intelligence. Minister Bosun Tijani noted that this is a critical step in President Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda to create millions of digital jobs.
