LAGOS, Nigeria — All eyes are on the Center of Excellence as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, arrives in Lagos for a historic two-day working visit starting Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The visit marks a significant milestone for the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, as the President is set to formally commission six iconic "legacy projects" that promise to redefine the state’s urban landscape.
The centerpiece of the tour is the Opebi-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge. This 5.04-kilometer engineering marvel was designed specifically to provide a direct alternative for motorists traveling between Toyin, Allen, and Opebi to Maryland and Ojota. For years, commuters in these axes have battled soul-crushing traffic; this bridge is the long-awaited "relief valve" for the heart of the Mainland.
Governance Reimagined: The new LAGOS and Multi-Agency complexes in Alausa aim to digitize and centralize state operations.
Transforming Alausa and Beyond
Beyond transportation, the President will commission two critical administrative hubs in Alausa:
- LAGIS Building: A tech-driven facility aimed at digitizing land records and making title registrations seamless.
- Multi-Agency Complex: A massive structure within the Secretariat designed to bring multiple state parastatals under one roof for better efficiency.
Impact on Education, Food, and Sports
The tour also heads to the densely populated Ajegunle area for the commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex—a massive regeneration project housing 36 schools—and the Maracana Stadium, which features 19 mini-football pitches for grassroots talent development. Additionally, the President will unveil the Mid-level Agro Food Hub in Abijo, a 23,000-sqm facility built to stabilize food distribution and storage for the Lekki-Epe corridor.
